Rehearsing Monologues
when you are rehearsing a monologue you want to use three things. where you are, who you are talking to, and what your relationship is to the other people in the scene. by knowing all of these elements the actor can create a realistic image of the surroundings his character is in and therefore portray it much easier to the audience. one common mistake an actor will make is to follow the stage directions exactly and then the scene becomes lifeless and still, which is basically death for the actor. by adding your own creative choice to the material, you breath freshness into the piece and make it your own. |
